 Would you like to learn about keeping honeybees?

             
Beekeeping can be easy and pleasurable in your own back garden! Also get to know the medicinal benefits of your beehive, nature’s treasure box of best - kept secrets.  
Course outline:
*  The bee hive.
*  Tools, equipment, and apparel.
*  The honey bee life cycle.
*  A beekeeper's calendar.
*  Honey bee nutrition and feeds.
*  Identifying diseases, pests and predators.
*  Chemical treatments and medicines.
*  Organic methods of pest and disease control; understand why you should seriously consider this option.
*  Harvesting honey, pollen, propolis and royal jelly.
*  Tips for locating your bees.
*  Hands-on in the bee yard; learn to inspect bees and handle bees  correctly.
*  Pick up our hive inspection sheet, it will help you throughout the calendar year.
*   Demonstrations will be made using standard and new ergonomic beehives; both will suit urban / back garden       beekeepers.
*  Bring sticky notes and a pen. After each topic there will be a question period.J  also a head net with hat, a mosquito net from Can Tire will do.
